The Christchurch City Council has adopted a Draft Annual Plan for the 2010/11 financial year and will seek public feedback before the plan is finalised.The Draft Annual Plan 2010/11 proposes a rates increase of 3.96% for the coming financial year along with the launch and continuation of a number of key city projects.Public consultation on the draft plan runs from 12 March 2010 to 19 April 2010 and will be followed by public hearings before the Council considers feedback and adopts a final plan for the coming financial year.

Canterbury groundwater levels fell in February as a result of settled weather combined with average-to-dry conditions, according to monitoring by Environment Canterbury scientists.

The Crash Bash Road Show kicked off at Catholic Cathedral College on Monday 3 March with a strong message against drink driving.The theme for 2010 is ‘Alcohol Limits for Young Drivers’ and the winning script, entitled ‘Requiem in a Bottle’, was written by Mingji Liu from St Andrews College.
