The Christchurch City Council is looking for 14 young people from diverse backgrounds to develop into the next generation of leaders. The Council supports a scholarship enabling these potential leaders to take part in a funded Outward Bound course that will give them confidence in their leadership abilities, build their emotional intelligence, and give them the essential skills for achieving ambitious goals.

The Community Boards of Christchurch City are inviting nominations for Community Service Awards.Each Community Board in Christchurch will recognise volunteers for their particular Board area. Nominations for the 2010 Awards close on Friday 26 March 2010 and should be submitted on an official nomination form.

A $15,000 grant to Big Brothers Big Sisters will have impacts on many young lives.The Southern Trust's decision to back Big Brothers Big Sisters of Christchurch, will help more young Cantabrians gain a positive adult role model in their lives."We had a 100 volunteers doing weekly mentoring of kids across Canterbury in 2009," says BBBS Manager, Matthew Button. "This generous grant will help us to extend this programme to more kids."
