Proposed Mt Cass Wind Farm

On 23 November 2007, MainPower lodged an application for resource consent to build a wind farm on Mt Cass, about six kilometres east of Waipara in North Canterbury. The resouce consent application was publically notified by the council on 20 June 2008 and members of the public are able to make submissions on the proposal up until 1 August 2008. It is expected that a public hearing will be held in the last quarter of 2008 and a decision on granting the consent by the end of the year.

Government funding for Christchurch Graffiti Office

Christchurch City Council Media Release, 02 Jul 2008.
The Christchurch Council’s planned Graffiti Office has been granted $375,000 in Government funding, to be spread over the next three years.The office will focus on education, restoration and prevention and is expected to be up and running by October.

Edgeware Community Facilities

Christchurch City Council Media Release, 27 Jun 2008.
Community and council representatives will join forces to explore options for the future of the former Edgeware Pool site and the provision of community facilities in the wider Edgeware area.The Council declined a request to extend the time given to the St Albans Pavilion and Pool Group for its fundraising for a replacement pool, and instead supported the establishment of the working party as a broader approach to the future of the site.
