The 2010 Ellerslie International Flower Show begins on Wednesday 10 and runs until Sunday 14 March. The show features an amazing array of gardens and displays including an English garden by Chelsea award winner Chris Bearshaw and the Japanese Garden by Koji Ninomiya.

Christchurch’s new Novotel, the first international four-star plus hotel to open in the city since 1996, held an official opening event on Thursday 18 February, 2009.
Around 100 guests from throughout New Zealand attended the opening event at Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square. Novotel Christchurch General Manager Zayne Boon says it was a wonderful evening of celebration.

Visit the Canterbury Museum this summer and see award winning photos from The Press, contemporary Maori cloaks, Japanese prints and painting and an exhibition about tennis star Anthony Wilding. Coming up are exhibitions of quilts and in February traditional and contemporary Ngai Tahu art and taonga.
