Canterbury District Health Board media release, 21 Nov 2008.
Canterbury District Health Board has given approval to include a Ronald McDonald Family Room at Christchurch Hospital, which will support families of children who are receiving treatment.The facility, which will be funded by the RMH South Island Trust, is an extension of the Ronald McDonald House programme which already provides free accommodation to families of sick children from outside Christchurch. Family Rooms are already available in Auckland’s Starship Hospital and Wellington Hospital.

5+ A Day Fruit and Vegetable Month - November aims to increase awareness of the need to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables for better health. The month provides a focus for different organisations to promote fruit and vegetables using a variety of activities including public relations.

The cost of putting in irrigation flow meters, the declining trend in groundwater levels and Environment Canterbury’s (ECan) long-term plans to manage groundwater and lowland streams were among the issues raised by water consent holders at this month’s annual community water meetings.
