The Council carried out an energy audit and devised a programme of measures to immediately curb energy wastage and a plan of work for sustained and efficient energy usage.

Cyclists and Motorists To Share the Road

The Christchurch City Council has launched its 'Share the Road' campaign for the month of February, encouraging drivers and cyclists to respect the rights of all road users.Asset and Network Planning Manager, Terry Howes, says drivers and cyclists can share the road safely by practising common courtesy and consideration.

Pollution Hotline Calls Over2009/2010 Summer Holiday Period

Environment Canterbury Media Release, 02 Feb 2010.
Environment Canterbury’s Pollution Hotline Team responded to 57 incidents during the holiday period, including large outdoor fires, sewage spills and petroleum spills. This is down from 93 site visits over last year’s holiday period.
40 visits were in the North Canterbury and Christchurch area and 17 in South Canterbury.
